It’s been a long time in the coming, since 2016 to be exact, but after a couple setback & delays, Lupe Fiasco’s Drogas Wave album has finally arrived today. The concept project, which was supposed to drop next Friday September 28th, was pushed up a week due to suffering an early leak.
The follow up to last year’s Drogas Light contains 24 tracks in total (side A & side B) and features guest appearances from Damien Marley, Nikki Jean (who appears on 6 records), Elena, Crystal Torres and more.
Speaking on the concept of the album, Lupe says…“It’s about a group of slaves on a slave ship on their way to Africa to the West Indies and they are thrown off the boat. But they didn’t die. They stayed alive and they lived under the sea. And they dedicated their lives to sinking slave ships – so they became this super, underwater force against slavery. It’s like a super-deep story that I am building on different fronts. But that’s the main idea and the source material for the album.”
Out now, fans can stream the conceptual project in its entirety via via Apple Music or anyone of the other streaming platforms. Hit play and let us know what you think. Look for Lupe's Skulls album to be coming next.
