News outlets are detailing a shooting that commenced at Great Mills High School in Southern Maryland earlier this morning. No fatalities have yet to be confirmed, but local authorities are still investigating the scene and what events led to this latest incident involving armed weaponry.

The shooting occurred just before 8 a.m., with two of the victims have been identified as students. However, police have not yet revealed the condition of their injuries and whether they were life-threatening or not.

Johnathan Freese, a student who was sitting in math class as this latest instance of gun violence transpired, has revealed to CNN that police were going through each classroom and escorting students and faculty out of the building. "I'm a little shaken up," reveals the high-schooler. "I didn't really expect for this to happen. I do always feel safe, though, because they always have police at the school."

St. Mary's Ryken High School, a private educational institution about 15 minutes northwest of Great Mills High School, also went into lockdown after being notified about the shooting at its neighbouring school.

Just last month, Parkland's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School fell victim to the worst school shooting in U.S. history, which claimed the lives of 17 and injured countless others.

This story is still developing.
