Kodak Black's days of solitude have come to a premature conclusion.

The miserable experience of solitary confinement is well documented. Extended periods of time could be downright torturous. Generally, the punishment is reserved for only the most dangerous and violent offenders. Or, if you're Kodak Black, you may find yourself in the hole over inappropriate telephone usage. Amidst recent reports that the Project Baby 2 rapper landed himself a thirty-day stint in solitary confinement, his lawyer Bradford Cohen has since confirmed that the rapper had been released. Cohen previously spoke with Billboard about the matter, claiming “In my 21 years of practice, I’ve never had someone get 30 days solitary for a three-way call.”

Apparently, Kodak originally earned himself the solitary bid after using a prison phone to get in touch with somebody he wasn't supposed to be speaking with. While we have yet to learn who Kodak was attempting to reach, the fact remains that the punishment feels excessive. If prisoners are being sent to solitary over phone-related transgressions, will that ultimately prove beneficial to their eventual rehabilitation? Unlikely. Even if what Kodak did was against the rules, it doesn't appear that the punishment fit the crime.

Cohen clearly felt there was a bias at play. He emailed Pitchfork with a statement, explaining what went down. "After we objected to the move and requested they provide details about how many other inmates were punished in a similar way, the Sheriffs office decided to remove him from solitary confinement," wrote Cohen. The immediate rectification suggests that the punishment was not routine.

While Kodak may have found himself removed from solitary, he still has plenty of legal hurdles to face. The rapper is currently facing two charges: one count of possession of a firearm, ammunition, or weapon by a delinquent, and one count of possession of cannabis (over 20 grams). Not only that, but he's also awaiting trial over sexual assault charges.
