The bromance between Eminem and Royce Da 5'9" has been one of hip-hop's most longstanding. Even though we've only received a single full length project from Bad Meets Evil, their name still carries weight in most circles. In fact, fans were treated to a brief reunion on Royce's stellar Book Of Ryan, where they traded bars on "Caterpillar." Now, on Royce's forty-first birthday, Eminem has taken to Instagram to share a heartfelt message for the homie.
"Happy birthday to my great friend and ok rapper Royce Da 5'9," writes Em, alongside a lively animated picture. From the look of it, the pair were enjoying an evening watching the news and indulging in some patriotic deserts. It seems likely that the pair were in Italy, seeing as they're set to play a show there tonight.
Though their partnership was built on the foundation of mutual appreciation of talent, there is genuine friendship there. In fact, Eminem played a pivotal role in helping Royce get sober, and claim victory in his battle with alcoholism once and for all. Ever since their reunion, Royce has proven unwavering in his loyalty to Em, defending him after haters bashed his Trump freestyle, as well as from the Revival-centric Joe Budden scorn. It's refreshing to see the pair continue to hold it down, and one can only hope the birthday bash in question was spent at the end of a fruitful studio session.
Happy birthday Royce!
