“The #Poison Album will be the hardest out for the summer and the year I warn you,” writes Swizzy, ostensibly directed at his “rival” Timbaland. “I’m in Showtime Zone I hope you are.” Posted up in a studio set-up looking like something out of a Gothic rave club, complete with paper towels for the spillage, Swizz mean mugs the camera, warning Timbaland by name that smoke is coming on thick. To enunciate his point, Swizz opts for a menacing Lil Wayne sample to speak volumes.
He proceeds to indulge in the razzle dazzle, laying down the beat in real time. Shades of “WWIII” seep through as Swizzy lays the foundation for an absolute blammer. Having teased this one in the past, it now seems as if the Weezy-assisted track shall be present and accounted for on “Poison.” While the project has yet to land an official release date, Swizz has confirmed the big guns have been brought out, with features from Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Pusha T, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, 2 Chainz, The Lox, Giggs, Jim Jones, and more.
Hopefully Swizz’ triumphant return to the fold can inspire the producers of his era to step up and follow suit. Imagine if Just Blaze, Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Scott Storch, Kanye West and DJ Premier came through with compilation albums? In the meantime, look to Swizz to raise the bar. Your move, Timbo.
