Travis Scott's upcoming sneaker venture with the Air Jordan Brand is not his first stab at cross-media marketing. The "Cactus Jack" Jordan 4, loosely named after his album with Quavo, updates the classic sneaker with colors associated with Houston's now defunct NFL franchise, the Oilers of pale blue, scarlet and silver lining. The sneakers were premiered during the playoffs by PJ Tucker, with Travis Scott sitting courtside with his baby mom Kylie. The "Cactus Jack" 4 is set to debut on June 9, a day after Travis marks the celebration with his very own "Cactus Jack Carnival."
The event, hosted by Travis Scott in conjunction with the Air Jordan Brand will take place on June 8th starting at 5pm. Root Memorial Square Park has been chosen as a venue big enough to contain the excitement over his sneaker deal and album. A basketball tournament will be held, as well as a full strata of carnival games, a meet and greet, and plenty food and beverage.
No date has been set for Astroworld, even though he's rumored to have been diligently working towards its completion in recent months. Scott has been spotted in studio with Tame Impala's frontman Kevin Parker and was a frequent visitor of Kanye's during his stint in Wyoming.
Friday marks the date and Houston the spot, for Travis Scott's next community initiative "Cactus Jack Carnival."
