In 2016, Ben Affleck publicly revealed in an interview with Extra that a massive phoenix tattoo that covers a majority of his back was fake and put in place for a movie role. However, when photographed on the beach recently, the Argo director showcased the colourful ink once again, which clearly is a permanent addition to his body.
The writer/director/actor has once admitted "I actually do have a number of tattoos, but I try to have them in places where you don't have to do a lot of cover up. They get sort of addictive, tattoos, after awhile."
Whatever compelled him to get such a peculiar piece of ink on his body remains a mystery. Since the photographs went viral, people have taken to Twitter to criticize Affleck's tattoo, highlighting a variety of reactions when exposed to such a showy display of questionable artistry.
