T.I. Incurs Blame For Losing Out On Pharrell's "Stir Fry" Beat

Back in January information relating to Migos' "Stir Fry" came to light. You may recall hearing that the beat for "Stir Fry" was actually a Pharrell beat from 2008 kicking up dust on a removable disc. In an interview with Beats 1’s Ebro Darden, Quavo made note of the beat passing hands from rapper T.I. back to Pharrell before landing on Culture II as a feature single.

According to T.I. what led to them playing hot potato with the record was his inability to get his bearings while in the studio with Pharrell. T.I. opened up on Tidal's RapRadat podcast. He admitted that back in 2008, he and Pharrell "could never settle on a hook." After going back-and-forth-back-and-forth, as T.I puts it, Pharrell eventually lost his patience and closed the lid on the project, moving on to something else more befitting. 

With host Brian Miller suggesting he'd heard the original was supposed to be a single, T.I. chose to brush the lint off his sweater, admitting he liked the way Quavo had worked the chorus on "Stir Fry" a lot better than anything him and Pharrell had brainstormed. "He got tired of my shit," confessed T.I. before moving on to bigger and better things.
