Montana Of 300 is a slept-on performer in the Chicago rap scene, mostly because he's impermeable to rap trends and the constant evolution of the genre. Montana has found a crystallizes that doesn't age, decay or lose shape. At worst, his music can be non-distinct, but that is hardly a shortcoming given the lack of consistency in mainstream rap nowadays.
His latest offering "Been A Beast" is essentially that: a reminder of his consistency. Montana speaks of fighting off gun charges and coming back more resilient than he was to begin with.
The Chicago vet never-the-less clutches a semi-automatic to remind all comers of his dual-nature. While the gun clap rings consistent too, the verbal barrage shows variance in flow. There are at least three intersecting points in which Montana displays a command over his voice like a real technician. Montana Of 300 can always rise above the standards I've come to describe, and if he does we'll have a real problem on our hands.
Quotable Lyrics:
Bih I'm tatted up
I never had good luck
Start bagging up
Shit start adding up
Bankroll fat as fuck
B***** look at while I'm passing slow
There that bastard go
Hop out dripping like a fashion show
You play you gotta go.
