HBO has today released the official trailer for their much anticipated documentary about the life of WWF legend, Andre The Giant. The doc, which is a collaborative project between HBO Sports, WWE and the Bill Simmons Media Group, is set to launch on April 10th, just two days before Wrestlemania 34.
The film will not only showcase Andre The Giant's rise to superstardom in the world of professional wrestling, but also his demise and the darker side of what his life was like. The doc includes interviews with several people who were close with him, including Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Billy Crystal and WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.
"Everyone who ever crossed paths with him has an Andre story—and usually four or five," Simmons told HBO.com. "I'm delighted to join forces with [director] Jason Hehir and WWE so we can capture Andre's amazing story once and for all."
Andre The Giant, who others knew by his real name Andre Rene Roussimoff, reportedly stood 7'4 and weighed more than 500 pounds. He ushered in a new wave of professional wrestling and as a result of his contributions to the business, became the first member of the WWE Hall of Fame in 1993, just two months after he passed away at the age of 46 years old.
As Hulk Hogan describes in the trailer, "He did sports entertainment before there was sports entertainment."
