Amir Obe marks his official return with a new EP.

Amir Obe is back!! He's someone we've supported since day one, through the course of reinventions, name-changes and sound experiments. The Detroit-bred artist, however, mostly disappeared from view this past year, following the release of None of the Clocks Work  in March 2017. It looks like he's planning (at least) a semi-permanent return to music, as he's dropped a new EP with the promise that this is just one of three "chapters." He surprised us already with the very good song "Holy Shit," which serves as the final record on this new EP.

The EP is really only three songs though, if we're being 100% factual, the first 'record' is an intro skit. From there we're taken into "Don't Belong Here." It's another twisted rap-r'n'b record, constantly in a state of organized flux, Amir's vocals keeping that distant, lo-fi quality. It dabbles in the electronic but never veers to far deep into the realm. Production is handled by Amir's go-to, NYLZ.

Can’t Be A ____Here: Chapter 1 is streaming right here.

Quotable Lyrics

When the fuck you gon drop a song?
You should prolly go and get some help right now
Thinking you should do it for yourself right now
Need to stop acting like you care right now
I'ma get the keys and take you there right now
