We were first introduced to YBN Cordae back in May when he caught the industry’s attention with the song “Old N*ggas,” a response to J. Cole’s “1985” record. Since then, the Maryland rapper has continued to grow with each new release, sharing songs like “Fighting Temptations,” “Kung Fu” & “Pain Away” to name a few, but there’s still plenty more where that comes from. With a new mixtape set to drop in a couple weeks, YBN Cordae decides to come through today and share a new song & accompany video called “Scottie Pippen,” named after the hall-of-fame basketball player of course.
Over production from Maddox and Mike Dean, Cordae switches up his flow & shows off his slick, lyrical wordplay, while referring himself to “Scottie Pippen” and rapping about ballin’ like a Piston in the process. As for the Cole Bennett-directed video, it finds Cordae rockin’ a Pippen jersey and roaming around the bball court and gym locker room.
Check out the new release and let us know what you think.
