Jemele Hill's days as co-host of ESPN's 6pm edition of SportsCenter are coming to an end.
According to reports, Hill will no longer host the show alongside Michael Smith. Her last day on SC6 will be Friday, February 2nd, just two day before Super Bowl LII.
Although Hill is leaving SC6 she will remain with ESPN as part of The Undefeated, a site affiliated with the network that blends sports, race and culture, as well as other additional assignments, according to Sports Illustrated. She reportedly asked ESPN management for the change. Michael Smith, who co-hosts SC6 with Hill, will now host the show by himself as he did when Hill was suspended for two weeks last year.
In September of last year, Hill sent out a series of tweets criticizing President Trump, including one where she called him a "white supremacist."At the time, ESPN released a statement saying Hill's comments did not represent the position of ESPN. Trump responded on twitter by blaming Hill for the network's poor ratings.
She later called out Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, suggesting that fans boycott the sponsors of teams that demand their players to stand for the national anthem, which ultimately resulted in a two week suspension for violating ESPN's social media policy.
