The Philadelphia Eagles were supposed to celebrate their Super Bowl LII victory at the White House today, as championship teams are one to do. However, President Trump decided to "uninvite" the Eagles last night in favor of "A Celebration of America" at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Eagles fans were still invited, but the ceremony was a bit different than expected. As the official White House statement reads, "These fans are still invited to the White House to be part of a different type of ceremony — one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem. I will be there at 3:00 p.m. with the United States Marine Band and the United States Army Chorus to celebrate America."
In addition to the National Anthem, today's Celebration of America at the White House also included a rendition of God Bless America. Of course, all eyes were on Trump throughout as he sang a couple of the words, nodded his head along to the beat and flashed a smile.
Naturally, twitter had plenty to say about the way Trump "sang along" to God Bless America.
