The latest development in the NCAA Division 1 championship tournament is that a vast majority of fans’ brackets have been destroyed thanks to a surprise win from the Syracuse Orange over the No.3-seeded Michigan State.
Overall, the Spartans landed only 17 of 66 shots taken, with Cassius Winston leading the squad with 15 points, followed by Miles Bridge who knocked down 11 points. But for all their efforts, they couldn’t pull out a win over the Jim Boeheim-led Syracuse which found guard Tyus Battle racking up 17 points with Oshae Brisett following behind with 15 points.
The narrow score of 55-53 meant the victory of a team that was the last in line to receive an at-large bid over a tourney favorite in yet another chapter in the unpredictability of March Madness as the No. 11 Syracuse advances to a Sweet 16 game against the No. 2-seeded Duke on Friday.
Twitter had plenty to say about the matchup, with reactions ranging from praise for Boeheim’s coaching skills to the conceding of defeat from spectators who had Michigan State pegged in the Final Four.
