Anna Mae Blessing hid two guns in her robe, according to police.

Anna Mae Blessing, 92, did not want to be sent to an assisted living home. Apparently, her son had plans to send her to one. After days of deliberation, she allegedly walked into her son's room and pulled out a pistol from the pocket of her robe and shot him to death: "you took my life, so I'm taking yours."

Blessing had been living with her 72-year-old son and his girlfriend for six months when he proposed that she be moved into a dedicated facility where she could receive care from professionals. Blessing apparently though the proposition over and then decided that she would take matters into her own hands. According to court documents, Blessing bought one of the guns back in the 70s and was given the other by her husband. Police reported that after she used them on her son, his girlfriend is said to have come into the room only to have Anna Mae point the gun at her. The girlfriend wrested the gun from the nonagenarian, who then pulled out the second from her robe, which was again knocked from her hand.

Upon being disarmed, Blessing sat down on a recliner to wait for the police.

The police arrived and escorted her out. According to court documents "as the suspect was being escorted from the residence, she made a spontaneous statement to the effect of 'You took my life, so I'm taking yours.'"

Blessing has been charged with first degree murder, aggravated assault and kidnapping and is being held in custody by the Maricopa County Sheriff's office in Arizona.
