Atlanta legend Jeezy may have dropped the Young from his moniker, but the rapper clearly remains young at heart. After dedicating himself to a more fitness oriented lifestyle, Jeezy managed to drop sixty pounds through a disciplined mix of diet, boxing, and his personal favorite, running. This morning, the rapper completed his first 10K run, the AJC Peachtree Road Race, alongside Atlanta Mayor Keisha Bottoms. Together, they raced to raise one million dollars for a variety of nonprofit organizations, including Jeezy's Street Dreamz Foundation, Atlanta’s Youth Scholarship Program and the Atlanta Track Club’s Kilometer Kids.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Consitution, Jeezy ultimately finished the entire course in a little over an hour. Apparently, the rapper got a few tips from Olympic runner Bernard Lagat, which look to have paid off. It's a good look for Jeezy, who has become somewhat of a role model in his later years. Shout out to him for this one.
"The crazy thing was (with) so much motivation going around it didn’t feel like it was really a race,” Jeezy tells the AJC. “I love the people that were on the side of the road with their signs and giving away watermelon and beer. Welcome to Atlanta."
