The 2018 Council of Fashion Designers of America awards took place last night, bringing forward some of Hollywood's best dressed and most influential fashion icons. One of the biggest awards of the night was the Menswear Designer of the Year, that was given to none other than Supreme and accepted by the brand's founder, James Jebbia.
“I’ve never considered Supreme to be a fashion company or myself a designer, but I appreciate your recognition for all we do," he said while accepting his little statue. James and his dope streetwear apparel that is seemingly taking over with numerous collaborations and drops beat out other nominees such as Virgil Abloh for Off-White, Thom Browne, Tom Ford, and Raf Simons for Calvin Klein.
Another star to receive an award was Kim Kardashian who received the CFDA's first-ever Influencer Award.
“I am surprised that I am winning a fashion award when I am naked most of the time,” she said at the podium.
“It was maybe seven years ago when I had a publicist and she asked, what were my goals, what were my dreams, and I said I just wanted to be on the cover of a fashion magazine," she explained. "And she said, let’s [make] some realistic goals because that will never happen. And so, of course, I sent her my Vogue cover when it came out. An autographed copy. So it’s really a trip to me that now I’m here getting an award for fashion when it’s something I always loved. Thank you so much for this, it means a lot.”
