DeathbyRomy's style is a seamless mix of rap, pop and deep emo ballads reminiscent of 070 Shake. On "High" Romy embodies the last two, emo and pop. With a surprisingly deep voice for someone of her size, Romy still comes through with classicly romantic (and Romantic) lyrics about lost love that's left her "high" even after it's gone.
Yung Bans plays his part too. Occupying almost the exact opposite position on the vocal register, he chants the hook: "I'm so high" and "can't come down." Bans and Romy's different styles end up complimenting each other well.
The song is the sixth in a series of singles that Romy has been releasing since 2017, presumably to promote an upcoming album that will feature, among others, Lil B.
Quotable Lyrics
I'd stay if you want to, but you'd rather I disappear
You got what you wanted, smoke fades and it's all so clear
Isn't it funny the way they say they care
And all of your love is ashes, it's always up in the air.
