Friday, the Internet was abuzz when rumors began to circulate of a possible retirement from Lloyd Banks after the rapper took to Twitter with posts that hinted toward the end of a storied career when he tweeted out, “Just wanna say thank you to the artist B4 me that inspired me..and send my appreciation to everyone that supported me till this day THANK YOU!!” He would add that it was “time to lay it down,” and the rest was left up to our imaginations.
50 Cent would soon take to the socials to make light of the situation, posting a photo to Instagram of a man in a lawn chair with a glass of wine with "Lloyd Banks Be Like Retirement" written across. Fif would caption the post writing,"👀 l be like, l got shit to do #power."
Eventually Banks would clarify that he wasn’t, in fact, retiring, instead criticizing the media industry of the swiftness with which news of a likely retirement spread. “Just goes to show you what a mess the industry has become,” he penned. “They’ll rather cover everything that happens around the music than the actual music itself. I hope all these outlets support me when I drop. Have a good day.”
Well, looks like Fif is still enjoying the punchline, going on to post a new clip on Instagram of a Donald Trump impersonator having an enjoyable time with a dancer as the caption read, “Only in America baby, TRUMP going to LUST tonight for Banks retirement party. We lit,” referring to NYC’s Club Lust—the venue that is a frequent host to the stars.
At the end of the day, though, it’s good to know that we won’t be celebrating Lloyd Banks’s retirement anytime soon—with or without Donald Trump.
