Former Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Jonathan Martin posted a cryptic photo on his instagram story last night which has forced a high school to close for the day.
Martin, who was bullied by fellow offensive lineman Richie Incognito when the two were teammates in 2013, posted a photo of a shotgun and he tagged Incognito as well as another former teammate, Mike Pouncey. Additionally, on the barrel of the gun he used the hashtag #HarvardWestlake, which is the Los Angeles-area high school that Martin attended.
Martin included the following text with the photo, "When you’re a bully victim and a coward, your options are suicide or revenge." In wake of the tragedy at Parkland, Florida's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Harvard-Westlake decided to shut down today as a result of the photo.
The school released the following statement, according to the New York Post.
“Last evening, we learned of an Internet post that mentions Harvard-Westlake by name,” the school said in a statement as it closed both its campuses. “Out of an abundance of caution, and because the safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our top priority, we made the decision to close school today. We are working closely with law enforcement and will share more information when we are able.”
The 28-year old lineman was only in the NFL for three years, including one season with the 49ers after he was reportedly bullied in Miami. He has a private IG account, but it is verified.
