When you have billions at your disposal, dropping $8 million on a new estate must be child's play. According to real estate blog Velvet Tropes, mega-mogul Oprah Winfrey did just that, when she purchased a massive compound on Washington state's Orcas Island. Oprah spent $8.275 million to be exact on the secluded residence. Orcas Island is one of the four largest islands that constitute the San Juan Islands archipelago between Seattle and Vancouver. Called the "Madroneagle Estate," the sprawling compound encompasses 43 acres with 3,000-feet of shoreline for private swimming and fishing.
Oprah acquired the estate in two separate transactions. According to the real estate blog, the first transaction was for $7,150,00 and the second transaction was for $1,125,000. Both transactions were traced back to corporate entities that are under the Oprah Winfrey Network offices in West Hollywood. The gorgeous home is 7,303 square feet and features 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, 2 half bathrooms, and a 4 bed, 3 bath guesthouse. Although the guest house was built in 1980, the main house was built in 2007, so the estate is practically brand new. There is also a gazebo, barn, hut, and sauna on the property, giving Oprah several options for recreational activities. Inside sources claim that Oprah is planning to purchase more real estate in the area as well.
