The Western Conference Finals matchup that everyone has been anticipating and looking forward to since the start of the season is finally upon us. With Game 5 victories last night, the Houston Rockets and defending champion Golden State Warriors are set to do battle with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line.
The Rockets built their team with one thing in mind: dethroning the Golden State Warriors. Now, Draymond Green says "it's time to play."
"They have made it known that their team is built to beat us," Green said following last night's game, according to ESPN. "Kind of their, like you said, obsession or whatever you want to call it -- it is what it is. Like I've said before, all that stuff is cool. Obviously, you want to build your team to beat the defending champs because that's usually how you have to go to win a championship. So, all understandable.
"That stuff has been said for about a year now. It's time to play."
"Hey, you gotta play the game now," Green said. "That's all fine and dandy in January, but now they got us, and we got them. You got to go out there and play, and we'll see who's better."
In speaking about the upcoming series with the Rockets, Draymond told reporters, "we're not about to run around like, 'Yeah, we want to play them in the conference finals.'"
"We've got a goal. Whoever is in the way of that goal, then we got to see you. You got to see us. All right now, they're in the way. Perfect. But we're not running around talking about, 'Man, we want them bad.' Nah, we want a championship bad. Another one."
Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals is scheduled for Monday, May 14 at 9:00pm ET in H-Town.
