Over the weekend, the Philadelphia Eagles blared "Dreams & Nightmares Intro" before and after their game against the Minnesota Vikings. The Eagles turned a fan favorite into the team's anthem. While footage of the Eagles playing the song at team meetings and on the field surfaced on the Internet, word must've gotten to Meek who says it "really lifted his spirits.
While Meek is behind bars, he's still getting updates on what's happening on the outside. After hearing about the Eagles big win over the weekend, the rapper released a statement to Bleacher Report on the team using the intro of his debut album as a celebratory anthem for them.
"It really lifted my spirit to hear the team rally around my songs because that's why I make music—to inspire others and bring people together," Meek told Bleacher Report and NBCSports Philadelphia in a statement. "The Eagles have also motivated me with the way they've overcome tough situations and injuries to succeed this year."
While fans and peers petition for the rapper's release, none of it has been successful. The rapper's been visited by from several people in the athletic world including the 76er's co-owner who's been visiting the rapper frequently and has also been trying to help the rapper develop a legal strategy for his release.
Aside from the 76ers co-owner, Meek's had visits from Colin Kaepernick, James Harden, Al Sharpton, Joel Embiid and many other high profile figures in sports and entertainment.
We'll continue to update you on Meek Mill's situation.
