The opening track from the Chicago rapper's "Free Andy" EP.

Warhol.SS first linked with Kenny Beats on April's "Birds Nest," now the two have reunited on "Layin Low," the opening track from the Chicago rapper's new EP Free Andy. The track features a chunky bassline from Kenny, bringing a bit of brightness into Warhol.SS' generally grim sonic landscape. As a result, the rapper sounds more lively here, skipping over the beat enthusiastically in a way we don't usually hear from him. It's a sing that Warhol.SS is widening his range as his long-awaited debut full-length Chest Pains arrives. While it's currently without a release date, it's been promised to arrive soon after this warm-up project. Last September, The Where's Warhol? EP was also billed as a precursor to Chest Pains, but there's no need to complain about delays when the mini-albums are this strong.

As for Kenny Beats, this is yet another strong showing in a big year for the producer which has found him working with KEY!, Rico Nasty, Freddie Gibbs, 03 Greedo, and more. Listen to the full Free Andy project here.
