Alicia Keys took over the scene with her piano playing skills and undeniably beautiful voice. Her debut album Songs In A Minor was released in 2001 and featured the track "Fallin" that is easily recognized as her best number to date.
The video that showed her big hoops and braids made many young girls (like myself) hit the piano and try to do what she did so effortlessly - or so it seemed. Her debut album earned her five Grammy awards at the 44th annual ceremony. Not that she needed the approval of the academy, but Alicia Keys only got better and her recognition grew to notable collaborations over the years.
To date, Alicia has won 15 Grammy Awards in total and has now set herself as an advocate for natural beauty after her recent decision to no longer wear makeup. She is married to notable hip-hop emcee, Swizz Beatz, where they share two children.
Today marks Alicia's 37th birthday and in honour of the R&B star we've rounded up some her best tracks. Let us know which are your favourites.
