Francisco Vargas put the beat down on Rod Salka.

American boxer Rod Salka stepped into the ring last night for his fight against Mexican boxer Francisco Vargas wearing trunks with a brick wall pattern and “AMERICA 1ST” written across the waist. Vargas, a former WBC super featherweight champion, made light work of Salka, disposing of him in six rounds.

According to Boxing Scene, Vargas connected on several big punches to the head and body in the early rounds, including a devastating uppercut in the fifth that forced Salka to go down for a knee. He made it up at the count of eight just as the bell sounded, but the sixth round was just as brutal. Vargas opened a cut around Salka’s left eye and his corner opted to throw in the towel after the round had ended.

After the fight, Vargas (25-1-2, 18 KO) said he's now hoping for a rematch with Miguel Berchelt, according to Bad Left Hook.

Salka's most high-profile appearance came in 2014 when he was knocked TF out by then-WBA and WBO light welterweight champion Danny Garcia. Scroll down to check out highlights from both fights.
