Those who keep their ears to the streets are no doubt familiar with Millyz & Statik Selektah's upcoming joint effort Saints & Sinners, which seems primed to examine the dichotomy of the morally complex. Today, the duo have dropped off the project's lead single "Let It Go," which finds Statik holding it down like only he can. Utril Rhaburn comes through with an added layer of class, imbuing the boom-bap percussion with some smooth horns; likewise for bassist Brady Watt, who keeps things grounded with some dexterous musicianship.
Both Millyz & Jadakiss come through with a notable sense of laid back swagger, with the latter showcasing why he's one of the genre's stalwart greats. "Smoking at an early age, I relate to the dread," raps Jadakiss, inhaling the good, "I was on the honour roll but I relate to the speds." While it's not exactly uncharted territory, "Let It Go" remains an enjoyable return to the streets. Peep that Saints & Sinners joint, dropping August 24th.
Quotable Lyrics
I put the barrel straight to your head
Doesn't matter if you punching the clock, or shaking the feds
Smoking at an early age, I relate to the dread
I was on the honour roll but I relate to the speds
