Despite proclaiming that her voice has suffered permanent damage, SZA has managed to remain inspirational. The Top Dawg Entertainment singer recently returned to her old stomping grounds, New Jersey's Columbia High School, where she was inducted into the school's hall of fame. The singer, born Solana Rowe, graduated in 2008; the rest is on the verge of historical. In honor of her newfound hall-of-fame status, the Grammy nominated singer hit up Columbia High for a motivational speech and impromptu performance.
The speech showcased the singer's humility, as well as her penchant for inspiration. Depicting herself as an unpopular teen who skipped out on prom, she proceeded to stress the importance of self love. “It starts with trusting yourself, even if people are telling you you’re too young to trust yourself,” says SZA, before dubbing daydreaming paramount in the process of self-discovery.
She proceeded to slide into a performance of "The Weekend," which was largely accompanied by the attending student body. Peep footage from SZA's big moment below, and let her words serve as inspiration. The high school officially boasts some impressive pedigree; Lauryn Hill also sits on the hall of fame, after being inducted in 1999. Like Trick Daddy before her, SZA loves the kids.
