The Twitter feature where celebrities and other prestigious users get a blue check for verification is seen as a sign of social status. Not just anyone can get verified, making the little blue check feel like it elevates certain users over others. The verification process was put in place so that people who have a name for themselves could be authenticated. It separates the real from the fakes. Seth Rogen has an issue with the verification process though, and called out Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on what he feels is a racist reaffirmation.
Rogen ironically took to Twitter to call out Jack Dorsey for allowing the verification of white supremacists. It would possibly make sense if some of these racist leaders were reputable in another industry such as stocks or art. That isn't the case though. Rogen takes offense to white supremacists getting the little blue check mark just for simply being racist. "I’ve been DMing with @jack about his bizarre need to verify white supremacists on his platform for the last 8 months or so," tweeted Rogen. "After all the exchanges, I’ve reached a conclusion: the dude simply does not seem to give a fuck." Neither Twitter nor Dorsey have publicly responded to Rogen at this time.
