Jada Pinkett Smith was cast in Scream 2, assuming the role as death victim numero uno, akin to Drew Barrymore's iconic appearance in the preceding film. The Girls Trip actress wanted to make sure her screen time was used just as effectively, and had a particularly gruesome request for the director Wes Craven.
"I remember saying to the director at the time, ‘I want to die the most horrific death that has ever happened in a horror film,'" Pinkett Smith told PeopleTV on an episode of Couch Surfing. "I want it to be long and excruciating." Craven inevitably acknowledged to her request by simply stating "cool."
Eventually, Pinkett Smith was given a chance to flaunt her horror victim chops in another exemplary death scene. In the film, the actress is attending a screening for the fictional motion picture Stab, when she is punctured in the gut with a knife, before being repeatedly stabbed in the back. Eventually, she collapses and dies in front of the movie theatre as she tries to escape and receive immediate help.
