Stephen Curry is expected to return to the Warriors as early as Friday night.

Steph Curry has been sidelined for the past few weeks after suffering a pretty bad ankle sprain against the New Orleans Pelicans back on December 4th, but it looks like he’s about to return to the court this weekend.

According to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, Curry could return as early as Friday, although he think Saturday would be the perfect considering they’re on a back-to-back this weekend.

"I doubt he'll play tomorrow with a back-to-back," Kerr said after the team's practice Thursday, according to ESPN. "I don't think it would make much sense, but I think he's probably going to want to. But it's more likely he plays Saturday. If all goes well, I expect him to play Saturday, but even if it goes well, I'm not expecting him to play tomorrow.”

Curry participated in 5-on-0 drills during Thursday's practice. Afterward, he scrimmaged in 3-on-3 settings with Zaza Pachulia, JaVale McGee, Kevon Looney, David West and Patrick McCaw. That was closed off to the media, but after the scrimmage Curry was seen with no signs of discomfort or fatigue.

The Warriors have gone 9-1 over Steph’s 10-game absence, and it’s been their defense that’s been so impressive.

"It will be a little different," Kerr said. "Steph is a very good defender. I think what's been different is that we've been able to consistently put a whole bunch of 6-7 guys out there. So when we do switch, there's not a height disadvantage. But we've missed Steph's ability to play the passing lanes, put pressure on the ball, cause some havoc with his speed and quickness.”

He will be re-evaluated for a third and potentially final time Friday morning, and we should know more about when he’ll return come then. Stay tuned.
