Soulja Boy has always been a master of disguise. When he paired with Lil B in the early 2010's, he adopted the spontaneity of his collaborator's based freestyles. Prior to that, he slipped effortlessly into Atlanta trap with Gucci Mane on "Gucci Bandana." Around the time Odd Future emerged, he created the alter ego of Dre The Developer. On his new track "Infinity," he's tapped into a melodic delivery that could stand beside Swae Lee, Lil Uzi Vert, or Juice WRLD, but this time, his prime influence isn't immediately clear, instead, evolving his style in an organic way, never standing still but always sounding like himself.
He's not topping the charts as he once did with "Crank Dat," but he seems content to continue experimenting with his style and being a prolific creator. From the sounds of it, he's still got a lot of juice left. Listen to Soulja's other recent release, "Hml," here.
