The "Who Run It" challenge is fast becoming a keep-busy exercise for rappers honing their craft. It appears the greatest of all trolls, Tekashi 6ix9ine, isn't about to give the song his sacred blessing.
Tekashi jumped on Instagram to air a spoof version of the viral hit. As the beat commences he begins with the following disclaimer: "I usually don't do this but I had to come body-bag this one time," before name dropping his mother and a snickers bar seconds apart. The funniest bit about his video freestyle is the narrative structure he uses, in the form of a conversation with his mother. The way he carries his verse you're expected to imagine his mother bickering in the background as he falls short of her expectations. Tekashi kids about his failed bid to get his GED, and the messy stuff that's held up by court appeal. It's easy to mistake a serious issue from light one, the way he abdicates himself through comedic gestures.
The Instagram video is geo-specific, with a Chicago tag communicating his presence at Coachella Music Festival, even though he doesn't appear to be penciled into the lineup ahead of time. Hmmm...
