The rapper samples the iconic 1979 track, "Hey Mickey."

Iggy Azalea has transitioned into a grittier sound for her latest project. Most of the flows found on Survive The Summer are placed atop dark instrumentals in comparison to the pop productions many fans have grown accustomed to. "Hey Iggy" might be the poppiest track featured on her summer release because of its structure and theme. Still, it swings low with its heavy 808s and sombre atmosphere.

The hook borrows from Toni Basil's one hit wonder of a track "Hey Mickey." Rather than singing the ode to Mickey, Iggy places herself as the muse: "Hey I say hey, Iggy, you're so fine / You're so fine, you blow my mind / Hey, Iggy / Hey, Iggy."

The artist addresses her admirers as much as her haters by referencing her shapely figure and the plastic surgery many are convinced she has undergone. Regardless of whether those claims bear any truth, Iggy Azalea puts a fun spin on the rumours. The Australian is getting better if these bars came from her pen. Scratch that: five other writers are credited on this track, including Nicky Chinn who co-wrote "Hey Mickey," and Tyga.

Quotable Lyrics

Pretty squad women make a minute man bust like a semi (rrah)
Hit me late night like Jimmy
If I give it to him once, he gon' chase me 'round the city like (Hey, Iggy)
