Big news for BoJack Horseman fans: their team is creating a new animated series. Titled Tuca and Bertie, the show is a straight-to-series Netflix show, meaning we will get to binge it immediately. The 10-episode order will feature internet-favorite, Tiffany Haddish as a long-limbed toucan – named Tuca, of course – starring alongside an as-of-yet uncasted Bertie. The show is set to join Netflix's already established animation line-up with contents including Big Mouth, F Is For Family, and Castlevania.
The show features two bird women in their 30's, Tuca and Bertie, who live in the same building. Fans of BoJack Horseman are wondering if the new show will use the same brand of eye-opening pessimism that resonated with them. The lead characters have been revealed to have defining traits with, "Tuca (Haddish), a cocky-care-free toucan, and Bertie, an anxious, day-dreaming songbird." With BoJack's cult following already familiar with its style, it's too early to determine whether that direction will be taken again.
Work is quickly rolling in for Haddish, whose been busy this last year. After the successes of her New York Times best-selling book and role in Girls Trip, she can look forward to major placements coming up. You'll be seeing her alongside Tracy Morgan in The Last O,J. and Kevin Hart in Night School.
