This is not a joke. ESPN & Adrian Wojnarowski are reporting that All-Star center, DeMarcus Cousins, has agreed on a deal to join the Golden State Warriors this upcoming season. Coming off a torn achilles, Cousins reportedly signed a 1-year, $5.3 million dollar deal with the defending back-to-back champions.
Once Cousins returns from his injury, which hopefully be sometime in December or January, the Warriors will be looking at a starting lineup consisting of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and DeMarcus Cousins. And if 5 all-star players wasn't enough, they also have a Finals MVP with Andre Iguadala coming off the bench as well.
Shortly after this news broke, two-time league MVP Stephen Curry welcomed Cousins with a humbling tweet, saying βThe 3rd splash Brother πππππππ. Letβs go @boogiecousins.β
The Warriors lost center JaVale McGee in free agency to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, so they needed to fulfill a center slot, and they couldn't have done much better. Following the signing of Julius Randle on Monday by the Pelicans, Cousins became expendable in New Orleans, which ultimately made him leave and sign with the Warriors.
