Johnny Depp is at the center of a swirling controversy. Depp is currently filming LAbyrinth, which is a film about Russell Poole, the detective who investigated the murder of Biggie Smalls. According to PageSixwhile on set, Depp attacked a crew member who attempted to shut down the day's production because of time restraints connected to shooting permits.

Allegedly, Depp hired his friends to play a police officer and a homeless man in one scene that was being filmed in Los Angeles. A downtown street was closed down to film the scene, and a certain amount of time was allotted for shooting. The filming was taking longer than expected though, and things got hectic. “The producers kept asking for the time to be extended,” explained a source to PageSix. After time had been extended to the maximum, a location manager told the film’s director, Brad Furman, that time was up.  "Tell that to Johnny Depp,” was the director's alleged response. The location manager approached Depp and instructed him that it was time to wrap up, but apparently, the actor had been drinking on set all day and was not ready to stop filming. Depp approached the location manager angrily, “He was 6 inches away, yelling, ‘Who are you? You have no right!’” sources told PageSix

Sources continued on to state that Depp swung at the location manager, but his punch was ineffective. “I’ll give you $100,000 to punch me right now," exclaimed Depp before being pulled away from the manager. According to Metro, the entire altercation was a made up story. Director Brad Furman came to the defense of Depp, and stated, "Johnny Depp is a consummate professional, great collaborator and a supporter of other artists." He continued on to say, "He always treats the crew and people around him with the utmost respect. Movies can be stressful, and nonevents often become exaggerated. We all love stories — there isn’t one here."
