March Madness got off to a hot start today as the University of Rhode Island Rams survived an overtime thriller against Trae Young and the Oklahoma Sooners. Rhode Island, a 7 seed, will now take on the winner of Duke v Iona.
The Rams had four players score in double-figures today, including E.C. Matthews who led the way with 16 points and a dagger three-pointer late in overtime to seal the victory. Rhode Island's bench players made a huge impact on this game as well - specifically Cyril Langevine, who double-doubled with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Fatts Russell, one of the greatest names in the tournament, who pitched in 15 points off the pine.
OU's star freshman Trae Young scored a game-high 28 points to go along with seven assists and five rebounds but it wasn't enough to overcome URI's balanced attack. Young will surely declare for the NBA Draft and is expected to be a Top-10 pick.
