Akon is finding it hard to believe that Bill Cosby is guilty.

The end of the re-trial of Bill Cosby for sexual assault left everybody shocked, with the 80-year-old comedian being found guiltyfound guilty on three counts of sexual assault, and being sentenced to up to 30 years in prison. Bill Cosby was a big part of a lot of people's lives growing up, so many have found it hard to adjust to the idea of the man who played Cliff Huxtable being a convicted criminal, including rap hook-smith extraordinaire, Akon.

TMZ caught up with Akon at the airport, and asked him what he thought a fair sentence for Cosby would be. A weird question to ask a musician, for sure, but Akon used the opportunity to explain his thoughts on the entire Cosby matter. For him, after having influenced by Cosby for so long, he can't really wrap his head around his guilty verdict. Akon then offers the suggestion that Cosby may, in fact, be wrongfully convicted of his crimes.

That's not to say that Akon believes that the accusers were only in it for money or fame, rather, it's just that his lack of knowledge about the details of the trial and his perception of Cosby as one of his heroes is so strong that he hasn't come to terms with the reality of the situation. He does, however, believe that if Cosby was guilty, he would have received his comeuppance regardless.

"At the end of the day I think karma doesn't lie," says Akon. "I dont think God makes no mistakes. So, if the law doesn't catch you, karma will eventually."
