The Texas Longhorns defeated the Missouri Tigers in the Texas Bowl last night by the final of 33-16, but simply beating Mizzou wasn't enough for the Longhorns and their coach Tom Herman - they wanted to rub it in.
After Texas locked up their 33-16 victory with a touchdown run late in the fourth quarter, Tom Herman and his players mocked Mizzo QB Drew Lock and his "secure the bag" celebration. Lock had previously taunted the Longhorns in the middle of the field after tossing a 79-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the second half.
Following the game, Lock spoke to reporters about the gesture from the Texas sidelines.
Per ESPN,
"You can look at it like this is a pretty big program, and when the head coach is mocking your dance move, you must be doing something right," Lock told reporters. "You're not a nobody. You're definitely doing something that is catching people's attention."
"There's both sides of that. If you're going to do that, you're being a players' coach, really," he said. "If I was on the team, I would have [dug] it. ... 'Coach is balling with us, he's out here having fun.'
"But at the same time, you know, you've got to realize how the other side is going to take it."
In his first year as head coach of the Texas Longhorns, Herman led the team to a 7-6 record (5-4 in the Big 12) and last night's bowl win.
