Tech N9ne hits up Sway In The Morning for a lengthy interview.

Tech N9ne has been putting out music for nearly two decades now. His sheer volume of output is outstanding to behold. With his upcoming twelfth studio album Planet en route, Tech swung by Sway's Universe to chop it up with his old pal. Older fans might remember Tech's appearance on Sway and Tech's legendary "Wake Up Show Anthem," alongside RZA, Eminem, Xzibit and more. Needless to say the connection runs deep. Now, an older and wiser Tech has the benefit of experience. During his conversation, the Kansas City rapper reaches out to independent artists, encouraging them to keep grinding and believe in the product.

Citing the trailblazers who came before him, namely E40 and Master P, Tech's words of encouragement speak volumes about his relationship with the music industry. Remember, the man once made a song called "The Industry Is Punks;" instead of conforming, he built his own industry. When asked about his largest source of income, Tech states "touring and merchandise. Music doesn't make as much money as it should. I'm thinking it will again." Perhaps that explains the upcoming sixty-two date tour. "If you ain't doing a show, if you ain't putting a show together, what are you doing?"

"If you're a youngster out there, and think you can just hold your crotch and just rap...that's a flash in the pan." For more wisdom from Tech, catch the full interview below. Planet drops March 2nd.
