I'm sure The Donald won’t be happy about this, therefore probably say it’s “fake news,” but according to numerous reports (via Gallup Poll), Barack Obama was voted as America’s most admired-man for the 10th straight year in a row, while Donald Trump came in second behind him.
Obama edged out Trump, 17% to 14%, to win his 10th most-admired title. He won the year he was elected president, each year in the White House and his first year out of office. Only former President Dwight Eisenhower has won Gallup’s most-admired title more times than Obama has. (Eisenhower won 12 times).
For what’s it worth, this is the first time in 71 years that an elected President (Donald Trump) didn’t win the Gallup award for most admired man in his first year in office.
As for the woman, Hilary Clinton retained her title as the most admired-woman in the U.S for her 16th year. However she barely got by Michelle Obama this time around, winning 9% to 7%.
“But the likelihood that she will continue to hold that honor in future years seems less certain, with her popularity at a nadir and the percentage naming her as most-admired the lowest in 15 years,” Gallup said about Hilary’s decline. “She managed to win this year because she remains arguably more prominent than other contenders. However, retaining that stature may be more challenging in coming years with her political career likely over.”
Other names to round out the list for the men were Pope Francis (third); the Rev. Billy Graham, Arizona Sen. John McCain and Elon Musk (tied for fourth). For the women, Oprah came in third, with Elizabeth Warren & Angela Merkel finishing 4th and 5th respectively.
