Trippie Redd is one of hip-hop's most exciting new voices, and his rapid ascension to stardom has led to some exciting opportunities for the young artist. Today, the "Love Scars" rapper stopped by Big Boy's Neighborhood for an chat with one of the game's best radio interviewers. And while Trippie's future looks promising, his past is equally interesting, and he reveals much about his come-up in the interview's opening moments. Eventually, conversation turns to his collaboration with Drake, and while he can't say too much, he does play the "I don't-know-but-I-do" act.
The team also ask about Trippie's rumored collaboration with Wayne, prompting Trippie to play "fake shy," according to Big Boy. Redd eventually confirms that a Wayne collaboration is indeed on the way, explaining that the whole thing was somewhat arranged by HoodyBaby, a Young Money artist. "We vibin'," says Trippie. "I would say he is a mentor to me, but we just vibe." On that note, Trippie explains that he respects hip-hop's OGs, and that he "tries to take everything they say into consideration. A lot of stuff, I can't agree with...I don't particularly feel like I'm a part of that."
He also talks about his up-and-down relationship with Tekashi 6ix9ine, which he claims was blown out of proportion by "the internet." "It was really just him doing some corny shit," says Trippie. "He actually pulled up on me and we talked about that...I was trying to fight, he wasn't trying to fight. He wanted to talk it out...We talked about whatever the situation was, and we ended up being cool again, and then the n***a did the weird shit."
