Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q recently visited DJ Drama while out in Atlanta, and the two TDE rappers spoke on a bunch of current topics, such as the "Hottest MCs" list, Rick Ross' date rape lyrics, and the XXL Freshmen of 2013.
Schoolboy Q weighed in on his experience as a XXL Freshman which he described as "awkward." Q explained the situation was uncomfortable for him, "cause you know man. I'm an old ass man." The TDE rapper said he "only knew about four people there," but wouldn't reveal who, adding, "I don't wanna name names and shit and make people feel bad."
Q also discussed the list itself, and the many artists that he felt were unfairly left off of the cover. "Fat Trel should've been on there. Rockie Fresh should've been there. Problem, Casey Veggies, Doms." said Q. The rapper said he didn't like sharing the spotlight. "I wouldn't even want to be on the cover with Kendrick. I want my own cover, I'm greedy."
As the discussion continued, Kendrick commented on the Rick Ross lyrics controversy, indicating that in this day in age, everything is closely monitored. "You're under surveillance, you're held accountable for them lyrics," Kendrick said, but he sympathized with Ross. "I can respect Rick Ross. He apologized for something that was wrong, he shouldn't have said. Let that man live, he's an incredible artist."
