A$AP Rocky has no lack of confidence, that's for sure. When MTV's "Hottest Mcs" list came to light, Rocky had no problem venting his thoughts on the list and saying he should be at that #1 spot. He's even been brave enough to say that he's inspired Kanye West. Now, Rocky has once again voiced high opinions of himself, during an interview with L'Uomo Vogue.
We previously posted the rapper's cover photo on the magazine, and now an excerpt from the interview finds Rocky talking about the Golden Age of hip-hop, and the future of hip-hop. If you're wondering what or who the future of hip-hop is, Rocky claims it's himself.
"See, I love rap from the 90s, like Wu- Tang Clan or Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and I honor all the pioneers of the genre who came before me. I think that, in a certain sense, we're experiencing something similar to that period. But if the first half of the nineties was called the ‘Golden Age', I want this period to be remembered as the ‘Platinum Age' or ‘Diamond Age'. Currently, there's a new artist movement that's rewriting the rules of hip hop and I'm their leader, king, and emperor, that's for sure. I'm the future of this genre," Rocky said.
Check out flicks from the photo shoot for L'Uomo Vogue above, shot by Francesco Carrozzini. Do you agree with Rocky's statement?
