After dropping a lengthy interview with Charlamagne Tha God, and making an embarrassment out of himself with his slavery comments at the TMZ office, it appears that Kanye West has decided to do some research in order to get a little more informed about social and political issues.
Today, Kanye posted a picture of his recent internet searches, a list of names that include a wide range of expertise and points of view. Included are prominent activists such as Tamika Mallory, Linda Sarsour, and Carmen Perez; television pundits and personalities such as, Tomi Lahren, Angela Rye, and Eboni Williams; as well as California Senator Kamala Harris. Their specialties include issues of gun control, mass incarceration, and religion, and come from both sides of the political spectrum.
Charlamagne, who this whole time has acted both as one of Kanye's harshest critics and most loyal defender, seems to find promise in what Kanye is doing. He reposted the tweet on Instagram, captioning the post with, "Hey @troubleman31 couple more camera flashes And I think he will be ok......." The camera flashes, in this instance, refer to the method of escaping the "sunken place" in the movie Get Out, which Kanye has reference several times in his tweets as well as his verse on Travis Scott's "Watch."
Not bad for a guy who once claimed to be a proud non-reader of books. Hopefully he grasps more than just a surface level of these issues before he decides to go on camera and state his opinion again.
