88rising, the YouTube channel slash record label home to artists such as Rich Brian and Keith Ape, have announced their inaugural Head In The Clouds music festival, as well as a label compilation album of the same name.
The festival will be headlined by artists signed to the 88rising label, who primarily are rappers that come from Asian and mostly rap in their native languages. Some of their artists, like Rich Brian and Keith Ape, have already established large followings stateside, while some, like the Higher Brothers, have been building a buzz through stellar collaborations with American up-and-coming rappers.
If you've never heard of any of these artists, now will be the perfect time to check them out, as the Head In The Clouds crew album will reportedly be dropping some time this summer. It will feature original music from Rich Brian, Joji, Higher Brothers, NIKI, and AUGUST 08, and will also feature special guest appearances. While the language barrier may be something that takes getting used to, the energy of these artists comes through in their music, and that's enough to cross all boundaries of language or nationality.
The festival is set to take place on September 22, in the Los Angeles State Historic Park. In addition to performances from 88rising artists, the festival will also have sets from Yung Pinch and Yung Bans. You can watch a preview trailer for the festival, or check out the full line up down below. Ticket pre-sale starts tomorrow morning at 10AM PDT.
