After starting the season 23-22, the Milwaukee Bucks have decided to fire head coach Jason Kidd. The unexpected news came just hours before the Bucks are set to host the Phoenix Suns.
In fact, there's a chance basketball fans found out about the firing before Kidd even knew that he had been let go.
Minutes after Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news, ESPN's Chris Haynes tweeted that Kidd had not been officially informed of the decision. Haynes added that Giannis Antetokounmpo was "devastated" after finding out.
In Kidd's 291 games with Milwaukee since taking over the job in 2014, the team has an overall record of 139-152, including last year's mark of 42-40 which was Kidd's best season as Bucks head coach. Entering tonight's home game against the Suns, the Bucks, currently clinging to eighth place in the Eastern Conference, have lost four of their last five.
According to Wojnarowski, there were several reasons why the Bucks decided to cut ties with Kidd, including frayed relationships within the organization and "general non-alignment."
