Saturday, Buffalo Wild Wings had no choice but to issue an apology after a series of offensive and bizarre tweets were sent out from its official Twitter account. The tweets stayed up for about 20 minutes before the company deleted them, but that was more than enough time for the damage to take place.
The posts made use sexual references and racial slurs, one of which was directed at author Tariq Nasheed while others made reference to Madeleine McCann, the British toddler who went missing during a family vacation to Portugal in 2007, as well as two individuals named Tommy and Glove.
Well, we were hacked,” the company wrote in a tweet. “And it wasn’t funny. We apologize for the awful posts, which obviously did not come from us.”
BWW went on to release a statement assuring that the tweets did not come from their end and that they’d be working to track down the individual(s) responsible.
“We’re sorry that our fans had to see those awful posts, which obviously did not come from us,” the statement read. “We are in touch with our Twitter representatives and will pursue the appropriate action against the individuals involved.”
This marked yet another scandal to plague the Buffalo Wild Wings house after the company offered to give a homeless man a year supply of chicken wings , a Walmart gift card and a hotel room after an employee wrote on his order ticket: “For homeless fuck! Let sit and get gross.”
